No, you don't need a prescription to buy Flamigel®. This product is freely available in pharmacies. Ask your pharmacist for advice.
- In case of sunburn, we would not advise covering Flamigel®. Make sure to apply Flamigel® frequently (2 to 6 times daily).
- In case of minor cuts and grazes covering Flamigel® can help to protect the wound and to prevent contamination. Cover the wound with a non-adherent dressing to allow easy removal.
Wounds must be thoroughly cleansed each time the dressing is changed. This can be done, for example, with Flamirins® .
Store at room temperature (<25°C) in a dry place and in the original packaging. Close the tube after use.
- Wash your hands before and after treating the wound.
- Clean and dry the wound gently before applying Flamigel®.
- For superficial burns and minor wounds (e. g. grazes, cuts): Carefully apply Flamigel® to the wound (without rubbing) once or twice a day (in case of sunburn apply twice to six times daily). If necessary, cover the wound with a plaster or dressing and change it daily.
- For superficial open wounds: Apply a thick layer of Flamigel® (5 mm) to the wound minimizing contact with the wound edges, cover Flamigel® with a sterile non-adhesive dressing and fix with a gauze or bandage. Leave Flamigel® in place as long as the gel structure is intact. Renew Flamigel® when it has disappeared. When new skin cells start to form and the wound is closing, apply only a thin layer of Flamigel® to prevent weakening. If necessary, protect the wound edges.
- For open wounds: Change daily. Removing the gel: Wash hands before and after removing Flamige®l. Flamigel® can be removed simply and painlessly with wet gauze.
You can use Flamigel® until the expiry date shown on the pack. The expiry date (USE BY: Year/Month) is the last day of the indicated month and year. Once opened, and if recapped carefully, a tube of Flamigel® can be stored and used for one year.
Flamigel® is available in 50 g, 100 g and 250 g tubes.
No, Flamigel® is not flammable, therefore it can be used in combination with oxygen therapy in case minor wounds develop on the nostrils, nose or lips.
The choice is yours: you can cover the wound or not. By applying a dressing, you protect the wound, it remains in a moist environment and you have to apply Flamigel® less often. Sometimes, it's not practical to cover the wound. In these cases, you don't need to cover Flamigel®.
